2002: Festival is open from 10 AM to 7 PM
"Open" All are welcome! Stockton Asparagus Festival 1st meeting: 10 AM outside the front gate. 2nd meeting: 1 PM outside the Spear-Its of the Valley wine and beer pavilion. Join me for a day of good food, good music and good fun at the 17th Annual Stockton Asparagus Festival!! There are tons of things to do and see for the whole family, so bring the kids if you want to. I plan on getting there when the gates open at 10 AM, so if you want to meet me outside the front gate just before 10 AM, that would be great! Otherwise, I will meet folks in front of the Spear-Its of the Valley wine and beer pavilion (check the festival map for this years location) at 1 PM. Hope to see you there! Host: Cindy R. (email: webmistress@sacramentotallclub.org) Here are more details about the festival: website: http://www.asparagusfest.com/main2002.htm
(Check out the bands that will be playing!) Directions: Oak Grove Regional Park - just north of Stockton, at I-5 and Eight Mile Road. From the Bay Area take 580/205 past Tracy and on through Stockton on I-5, exit at Eight Mile Road. From Sacramento, Lodi, or anywhere north of Stockton, take I-5 south and exit at Eight Mile Road, or take Highway 99 south and exit at Eight Mile Road, then travel west (to your right) approximately 4 miles. From Modesto and points south of
Stockton, take Highway 99 or I-5 north, and exit at Eight Mile
Road. Tickets are sold at the gate or in
advance at the Stockton Convention and Visitor's Bureau 1-800-350-1987 or
(209) 943-1987 or via e-mail Stockton-San Joaquin Convention &
Visitors Bureau <mailto:ssjcvb@ssjcvb.org>. Group rates available
for groups of 20 or more. Or visit a local participating Applebee's
for discounted tickets. The Festival committee has greatly improved parking from last year's accommodations. The parking grounds will be much more level and cleaner, but remember our parking lot is on agricultural ground! Although we have reserved handicap parking spaces, it is not handicap friendly, so we suggest the... AsparaBus Shuttle: Saturday and Sunday, 9am - 7:00pm, every 15 minutes. $3 per person roundtrip to and from the Festival gates for adults and seniors (kids are free!) with purchase of a Festival ticket. The pick up site is at Delta College in the Shima Parking Lot - parking there is free! Shuttles start at 9 am both days and leave the Shima lot every 15 minutes all day. Riders are delivered directly to the main entrance of the festival, ready for a day of fun. Shuttles leave the park for a return trip to Delta College approximately every 15 minutes all day long, both days. The last shuttle leaves the festival at approximately 7:00 pm each day. |
