Hi STC Talls,

Just had a great meeting/brunch at rac’s place.  As usual a fine turnout, wonderful eats and even better conversation and camaraderie.  Thanks to rac, the hostess with the mostess.

A couple highlights of the morning:  We got to meet the recipient of our STC “Sharon Heater Memorial Scholarship” award ($1000 this year), Kelly Schmutte and her family.  A tall, talented young lady, Kelly is pursuing a program at Stanford tending toward Product Design which will combine her artistic talents and mechanical skills.  Thanks to Mary and Gary whose efforts produced almost all of the proceeds from fundraisers and other member contributions and a special thanks to all of you who helped them get to the goal. 

Votes were counted (45 ballots received) and all primary candidates on the ballot won board seats.  Looks like you have me for another year as Da Prez with Barb K. – VP; Dorothy L. – Secretary; Steph – Treasurer; Patrick as head of social with his teammates Marcia and Eileen; Fred C. – Membership; rac – Marketing; Mollie – Publicity and LeeAnn – Sergeant at Arms.  We will officially transfer duties on September 28th at the Tall Fall Ball.

Lots of thanks due here.  To those that stepped up to the plate to put their personal efforts into the club in a board office, you’re the ones that are making the real difference for STC.  The rest of you; a big thank you from me and the rest of the existing board for all the good words, constructive criticism and encouragement you have given us through the last year.  Please continue the feedback, it really is appreciated and helps to make the task bearable and at times quite gratifying. I can’t imagine having a finer group that would let me pretend to lead.  Based on the club climate right now, this promises to be an incredibly awesome year for you, me and the club.  Hang on for a great ride.

Speaking of the September 28th Tall Fall Ball (aka The Prom):  Get those reservations in!  If you will remember, this was one of our top events last year with an attendance far higher than anticipated.  Rave revues after the evening was over.  High attendance from members of other Tall clubs makes for a great chance to meet new people.  By getting your reservation in to rac before September 21, you receive a $5 discount on the normal $40 ticket price.  Reservations will have to be cut off by September 25 to allow proper setup by the TFB committee. 

We continue planning for the October 12th “Member Appreciation Party” at rac’s put on by your board in appreciation for all the support you have given the club.  A BBQ with all food and liquid refreshments provided by STC (your dues in action).  We have a great number of things to celebrate for the last year and this will be a wonderful chance to do it in style before the new board takes over.
