NEWS!! STC WINS TCI PUBLICITY OF THE YEAR AWARD IN
2009!!
Thanks to the
wonderful STC Publicity book that Sue Karon put
together for us, our club won this year's prestigious
"Publicity of the Year" award at the 2009
TCI convention in Las Vegas. If you haven't had
a chance to see our Publicity Book, just ask around at
your next STC event. It is usually floating
around somewhere. Sue did a fabulous job!!! |

Stephanie
Brown Trafton, a resident of Galt, was honored on August 27, 2008
with a homecoming parade and reception, including free corn dogs and
fireworks. Stephanie won a gold medal in the discus in the recent
Beijing Olympics. No American woman has won gold in the sport since
1932. Hundreds people braved the summer heat to cheer
her on. Harry Leman, our current club president, was on the
program and gave Stephanie and her husband (both around 6'4"
tall) honorary memberships in our club and our "Altitude is
Everything" club t-shirts. We hope that they will join us
at one of our events once things are back to normal for them. From here, Stephanie is off to Europe for more events and has plans
to be on the Oprah Winfrey TV show. Congratulations
Stephanie! You make us all proud to be tall!!

Members Volunteer at the Ice Cream Safari at the
Sacramento Zoo

Several
of our club members volunteered to help out at the 24th
annual "Ice Cream Safari" at the Sacramento
Zoo on Saturday, July 26, 2008.
It was a very hot summer day (100 plus degrees, but that
made the ice cream softer and easier to scoop - yeah!)
and about 3500 folks showed up to have all-you-can eat
Baskin & Robbins ice cream and Coca-Cola
drinks. It was a fun way to get some publicity for
our club! Most of the members who participated
wore our club t-shirts and we got lots of comments on
them. We passed out our club business cards to
quite a few tall folks who were there as well.
Thanks to Brad F., Barb T., Joanne B., Debra J., Carla
M., Jennifer G., Larry N., Tonna B., Cindy R. and Harry
L. for volunteering and making this such a great
event! Let's do it again next year! |
